Private Music Lessons
Private Music at Athena means a caring and quality education by talented and driven teachers. No matter your age or ability you will receive a warm reception and notice our attention to detail. Our lessons are charged at $28 (plus GST) per half hour, below the recommended rate of the Music Teachers Assocation of Queensland, over a term period of usually approximately ten weeks.
Our most popular class and it's not hard to see why. Research has long shown that young children of pre-primary age gain significant benefits from learning music. Taken by Director and primary expert, Sue den Besten, both children and parents alike have a wonderful weekly session. The class has significant social gains but musically instills a sense of rhythm, in turn aiding co-ordination, works on recognition and reproduction of musical ideas and teaches basic musical concepts through Kodaly's proven methods. You'll be having so much fun you won't want to leave yourself!
The course is aimed at parents with children aged 3-5.
Public interest and participation has soared in this ancient and fascinating art form in recent years and Athena College is lucky to have an expert and lover of African music on our staff. The dynamic and energetic classes allow students of all abilities to interact, learn new techniques and have fun. You need no experience and drums are provided.
